He is survived by: his wife Bonnielou Hanson; his stepchildren, Terri Walter (Pat) and Michael Herbst; his stepgrandson Daniel Grimm; his siblings, Peter Hanson, Bonnie Chillquist and Wendy Katarincic (Keith); and his close friend Roy.
