He was predeceased by: his wife Laura Mata; his daughter Leticia Jean Mata; his parents, Amalia Mata and Refugio Mata; and his siblings, Rodolfo Mata, Josepha De Los Santos, Gonzalo Mata, Francis Covacevich and Mary Goolsby.
He is survived by: his daughters, Cynthia Mata Dailey (Michael), Amalia Mata Pena and Deborah Mata Headley (Kyle); his grandchildren, Jaime Garcia (Laura), Alfredo Aguilar (Samantha), Daniel Garcia, Roberto Aguilar, Erica Pena, Leticia Headley, Robert Pena (Evy) and Kasey Headley; and his siblings, Bertha Shotwell (John), Martha Segura (Joe), Jose Israel Mata (Mary), Juan Manuel Mata (Olga) and Luis Mata. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
