He was predeceased by: his parents, Erich and EdnaSchroeder; his wife Rose Marie Larsen; his siblings, Lucille Hathaway and Dwight Schroeder; and his son Jim Schroeder.

He is survived by: his sisters, Lois Deleruyelle (Ottawa Ohio) and Sharon Swain; his children, Bob, Cindy, Mark and Jeff Schroeder; his stepchildren, Lynn Burgardt, Lori Larsen and Lisa Young; his grandchildren, Matthew, Eric, Robert, Alan, Jay Schroeder, Ryan Schroeder, Mandi Odle, Maggie Boersma, Madella, Melissa Schroeder, Roxanne Quinn and Phoebe Schroeder; his stepgrandchildren, Rachel Rice, Christine Ferguson and Brian Young; and his great grandchildren, Logan, Jayden, Kolton Schroeder, Kaylee, Emily Odle, Madelynn and Isabella Schroeder.
