He was predeceased by: his parents, Waldemar Hinz and Wanda Hinz; and his brother Manfred Hinz. He is survived by: his wife Brigitte; his sister Helga Mehlau (Reinhard); his sister-in-law Helga Hinz; and his nieces and nephews, Rainer Mehlau, Sonja Mehlau (Dennis), Olaf Hinz and Mike Hinz.
