He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Kotterman and Betty "Janie" Kotterman (Schipper); his son Jacob; and his sister Karen. He is survived by: his wife Gail; his daughters, Aliesha and Heather; and his stepsons, Brian and Matt. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 6 nephews and nieces.
