He was predeceased by: his parents, Dick J VerPloeg and Agnes Ada VerPloeg (Van Rees); his parents-in-law, Rennier and Sarah (Erma); and his brothers, Chadwick (Irene) and Dick Jr. (Joyce).

He is survived by: his sons, Randall (Debi) and James (Jennifer); and his grandchildren, Tori Sumrall (Adam), Eric VerPloeg (Sarah), Rachel Litchey (Shane) and Jacob VerPloeg.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the First Reformed Church (807 3rd St, Sully, IA 50251). A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at the Sully Cemetery (12772 Hwy F62 E, Sully, IA 50251).
