Olin Guy Wellborn IV Obituary

WELLBORN IV, Olin Guy "O.G." May 15, 1992 - May 19, 2018 Our beloved O.G. Wellborn died on Saturday, May 19, 2018, in Sedona, Arizona. He was a dazzling light who arced across all our skies before a long battle with addiction consumed him at the tender age of 26. Olin Guy Wellborn IV was born in Austin and attended Cedar Creek Elementary School, Hill Country Middle School and The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, New York, before finishing high school at The Khabele School in Austin.

He attended Whittier College and Galveston College. He was a beautiful boy who became a handsome, smart man with an electric personality. O.G. was born to entertain. Mimic, musician, actor and wit, he lived his life with great energy and boundless confidence. He loved working with his hands as an artist and a craftsman. O.G. had found the great love of his life, Dyan O'Connor, in Sedona, where he lived along with her son, Atticus Scudder, the past two years.

He loved and doted on 5-year-old Atticus. He is survived by his father, Guy Wellborn; mother and stepfather, Jodi and Fred Zipp; sisters Olivia Wellborn and Emily Zipp; grandfather John Boston and his wife, Karen; his partner in comedy and uncle, John Boston; and dozens of aunts, uncles and cousins. Please join us for a celebration of his life at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 3, at Mercury Hall in Austin.

The family wishes to thank all the addiction specialists, family members and friends who tried so hard to help O.G. defeat his disease. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in O.G.'s name to . We also ask that when addiction threatens your loved one, seek all the help you can. Honor O.G. by letting us, his family, offer what small wisdom we have acquired.

Love your addict with all your heart and without stigma or shame, because they are not their disease. If O.G.'s life can shine a light on this horrible epidemic and, perhaps, help another young person to recover, then his was a life well lived.
