He was predeceased by: his parents, Dolores Montez and Trine Montez; his son Anthony; his siblings, Louie, Ernesto, Leonard and Frances; and his brother-in-law Cubby.
He is survived by: his children, John (Tom), Leslie (Wendell), Chris, Roxanne, Gilbert Jr. (Diane), Tanya (Albert), Miguel (Jodi) and Gabriel; his sisters, Sylvia (Ray), Mary, Norma (Fred), Rita and Gloria (Richard); and his sister-in-law Cynthia. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Vining Funeral Home (1940 S 20th Ave, Safford, AZ 85546). A rosary was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 at 9:30 AM at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church (311 S Central Ave, Safford, AZ 85546). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A committal service was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Safford City Cemetery (400 Discovery Park Blvd, Safford, AZ 85546).
