He is survived by: his father-in-law Opa; his parents, Herbert E. Kahler and Marie Kahler (Strieter); his wife Erika; his sons, Erik (Carla), Stephen (Iris), Christopher (Delphine), Michael (Mary) and Craig (Tim); his brother John (Ellen); and his sister-in-law Christa Dam.
