He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Hayes and Anne Hayes; his former wife Janice Mae Briggs Hayes; his children, John Jr. (Jay), Mark, Darcy and Melissa; and his siblings, Tom and Patricia Rose Marie.
He is survived by: his wife Lesley Hayes; his stepchildren, Brock and Lindsay Leighton; his siblings, Ed Jr., Maryanne, Michael and Julie Anne; his grandchildren, Lauren, Ainsley, Regan, Brady, Kyle, Brandon, Preston, Chloe and Cole; and his great grandchildren, Sloan, Estée, Blake and Eva.
