With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gary Vernon Carman (Prescott, Arizona), born in Sheffield, Iowa, who passed away on February 9, 2020 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald V. Carman and Alta Marie Carman; and his siblings, Mary Heilskov and Jim Carman. He is survived by: his wife Karen Lyons Carman; his children, Tim (Sandra) of Wyaconda, MO and Tammi Smith (Rick) of Chino Valley, AZ; and his grandchildren, Megan Burns (Mike) of Ames, IA and Brett (Jennifer Dozier) of Cedar Rapids, IA..

“Gary was a mentor to me in my early christian life at first baptist. He was a steady pillar to lean on whilst i was serving on the deacon board. No burden to heavy to share with him, and no time was the wrong time to call and ask for guidence and direction. If i was to choose one word for my friend it would be "loyal"....a loyal man through and through and always searching for the right and kind answer to issues. Never flamboyant, true brother in the lord , a simple man who knew his saviour.”
