He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Adlie Hooper and Ollie Pauline McIntyre-Hooper; his daughter Jalita Stever (Rob); his siblings, Cleta and Guy; and his granddaughters, Cheryl and Jennifer.

He is survived by: his wife Joyce LaRae Pope; and his children, Jamela Dial (Rex), Jacquetta Harvey (Mike), Jeff Hooper (Debbie) and Jimmy Hooper (Randee). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
