He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Debi; and his children, Marc and Morgan.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home (46401 Ann Arbor Rd, Plymouth, MI 48170). The lying in state was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Risen Christ Lutheran Church (46250 Ann Arbor Rd, Plymouth, MI 48170-3501). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. The military honors was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Great Lakes National Cemetery (4200 Belford Rd, Holly, MI 48442). When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, he returned to full-time active duty in 2020, assisting the state of Michigan with Health and Human Services.
