He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Stancil Hobgood and Margaret Ann Hobgood (Coughenour); and his wife Marabeth Ann Burrows. He is survived by: his children, Laurie Ann (Hobgood), Gregory (Mark Andrew Gregory) and Todd Christopher Hobgood (Kathryn Lee Hobgood); his grandchildren, Ryan David Gregory, Evan Andrew Gregory, Lauren Elizabeth Gregory, Peyton Lee Hobgood and Madelyn Grace Hobgood; and his brother James Leonard Hobgood (Linda Bartlett Hobgood). He is also survived by extended family members and friends.
