He was predeceased by: his parents, Francesco Altamura and Theresa Altamura; and his son Michael. He is survived by: his wife Emily; his son Robert (Anne); his grandchildren, Matthew and Stephanie (Rebecca); his great grandchild Charles; and his sister Mary Ale.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Fisher House Foundation, 12300 Twinbrook Parkway, Suite 410, Rockville, MD 20852.
