With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Michael Roy Oakes Sr. of Peoria, Arizona, born in Salamanca, New York, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 7, 2024 at the age of 80. He was predeceased by: his wife Karen F. Ellis Oakes; his parents, Lyle F. Oakes and Alma C. Milks Oakes of Kennedy; his siblings, Kenneth L. Oakes of Sinclairville, Lloyd K. Oakes of Kennedy and Eleanor E. Oakes Allnatt of Cherry Creek; his son Michael R. Oakes Jr. of Falconer; his grandson Nathaniel Elijah Gordon of Maricopa; and his nephews, Jeffrey Oakes, Lloyd Oakes Jr., Randy Allnatt, Kevin Oakes and Dennis Hadley.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kathy Floyd (Dave) of Peoria, Becky Gordon (Steven) of Tempe and Jackie Guardiola of Converse, Texas; his grandchildren, Traci, Josh, Matt, Nicholas, Marley, Marrissa and Marteen; his great grandchildren, Addison, Easton, Everett, Cody, Alayna, Noah, Tavren, Capri, Skyler, Levi, Mathew and Clark; and his sister Mabel Hadley (Niles) of Conewango Valley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 13th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Valley of the Sun Mortuary (10940 E Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ 85248). A celebration of life was held on Sunday, October 13th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the same location.
