He was predeceased by: his father Bill Simmons; and his granddaughter Aaliyah Helen. He is survived by: his mother Sarah Simmons (Vonda Simmons); his sons, Dustin Michael and David Jonathan; his siblings, Elaine Hale (Darrell) and Craig Simmons (Roselyn); his brother-in-law Brian Giffen (Kathryn); and his grandchildren, Noah Hudson and Layla Ann. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
