He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Francis Thomas Carroll and Gertrude Olive Morris; his children, Monica Therése Nelson (Mark) and Thomas Joseph Carroll (Shonda); his grandchildren, Nicholas Joseph Carroll (Yvonne), Jude Christopher Nelson (Meghan), Zachary Blaise Carroll (Joey), Luke Carroll Nelson, McKenzie Becket Carroll and Cam; his son Ron Lee Carroll; and his significant other Mary Genevieve Carroll.

Due to the pandemic, a celebration of life and graveside services will be held at a future date, when it is safe.

In lieu of flowers, he has requested donations be sent to Doctors Without Borders or the Kino Border Institute.
