He was predeceased by: his mother Elena Contreras Sr. (Montoya); his wife Helen B. Contreras; his father Edward Contreras Sr.; his sister Sylvia Moreno (Pete); and his grandson Marshall Contreras.

He is survived by: his sister Mary Helen (Jim); and his children, Michael Contreras (Katina), Anna Falk (Ron), Albert Contreras (Rosemary) and Gilbert Contreras (Cathy). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
