He was predeceased by: his parents, Angelo McGowan and Margaret McGowan (Erkens); his siblings, Aloysius (Al), Richard (Dick), Margaret Hartle (Margie) and Mary Jane; and his grandson Terry Miner (TJ).

He is survived by: his wife Martha Lea Williams; his children, Patricia Ellen, Michael John, Daniel Joseph and Jennifer Ann; his grandchildren, James, Matthew, Michael, Nicolas and Kate; his great grandchildren, Jaden and Jasmine; and his siblings, Ed, Mary Krupa and Gert Ragan.
