Barry Allen Hoben Obituary
Barry Allen Hoben, 80, of Mammoth Arizona passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, April 17, 2021 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. His life's journey is complete and we all celebrate our time with him as he rests in peace.
Barry was born in Ray, Arizona on October 9, 1940 to Gwendoyne Allen. The family moved to Lompoc, CA where Barry resided through his elementary years. In 1954, he moved back to Arizona to be with his grandparents, Elizabeth Dal Molin and Charles Harrison Allen, Sr., who owned and operated the Sierra Vista Motel (now The Lodge) in Mammoth. Barry graduated from San Manuel High School and went on to serve in the US Army (25th Infantry 1962-65).
Barry’s sisters, friends, and children fondly recall his stories of racing his car between Mammoth, Winkleman, and Globe. His passion for automobiles came from his grandfather, who drove one of the first motor coaches from Globe at Christmas in 1915. He was a mechanic by profession but also enjoyed restoring his 1969 Ford pickup in his spare time.
Barry is remembered as a devoted and loving husband and father, and a doting grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Rash; his children Sean (Samantha) Hoben of Duncan, Arizona; Todd Hoben of Morenci, Arizona; Jason (Melanie) Hoben of Duncan, Arizona; Grace Hoben of Fremont, California; sisters Liz Sinclair and Keir Sinclair; 3 granddaughters, 5 grandsons, and one great-grandson.
