He was predeceased by: his son Jimmy Means, Jr.; and his parents, George Means and Geneva Means. He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Means; his children, Phillip Means (Michelle) and Cindy Poole (Gary); his daughter-in-law Dori Pace (Jason); and his brothers, Gary (Louise) and Sonny Means (Pat). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
