He was predeceased by: his father Charles Markstrom. He is survived by: his mother Mae Markstrom; his wife Ginny Waltz Markstrom; his stepchildren, Robyn Strong, Austin Strong and Nichole Strong (Ed Cruz); his grandchild Koah Strong Cruz; his siblings, Darryl Markstrom (Cindy) and Marlene Roach (Richard); his nephew Michael Roach; and his niece Joni Roach (Mike Preuss). He is also survived by many aunts, uncle, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the family for young civil engineers scholarship fund.
