He was predeceased by: his parents, Tommie Lawrence and Nellie Lawrence. He is survived by: his wife Sarah Lawrence; his children, Wendy Schemper (Henry), Kenyata White, Lala Marshall (Elijah), Jessica Darby (Paul), Jeremiah Lawrence, Aimee Melendez (Rafael), Yazmin Lesar (Isaac) and John "JJ" Lesar; his sisters, Thelma, Dorothy, Johnnie Mae, Alice, Frances, Elaine, Janice and Anita; his half-brother Ervie Dee Lawrence; and his stepchildren, Jamie, Laura, Tabitha, Timothy and Nicole. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 20 step grandchildren.
