He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hatfield and Vennie Hatfield; his brothers, Ray (Maxine), Tommy, Baby Hatfield and Dutch (Linda); his great grandchild Kyle Downes; and his siblings-in-law, Ernest Hopper and Juanita Friesner.

He is survived by: his wife Etta; his children, Annette Cyprian (Tracy) and Garland Hatfield (Patricia); his grandchildren, Christopher Hansen, Nick Hansen, Katrina Hansen, Ashley Brittain, Krystal Herrera, Taylor Cyprian, Bubba Smith and Tina Smith; and his sister-in-law Paula Dvorak (Ray). He is also survived by nine great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren.
