He is survived by: his wife Nancy Russell Halmstad McDonald; his stepsons, Andrew Halmstad (Amanda) and Matthew Halmstad; and his siblings, Louise Morin (Noel), Suzanne Gysbers (Neil), Bessie Sweazey (Tom) and Greg McDonald (Faith). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
