He was predeceased by: his father Jerome "Jerry" Helvig; his stepfather Patrick Claugherty; his brother David Helvig; and his grandparents, Ralph and Martha Helvig.
He is survived by: his mother Margaret Helvig Claugherty (Carr); his son Conner Patrick (Brooke); his wife Carol Helvig (Goodwin); his daughter Emma Helvig; his siblings, Margaret "Peggy" Alspaugh (Tom), Paul Claugherty (Stephanie), Sharon Murphy (Michael) and Kathy Claugherty; and his aunts, Margaret "Peggy" Richardson (Helvig) and Satail Tailin (Helvig). He is also survived by nephews, nieces and cousins.
