He was predeceased by: his son Ryan; his wife Mary; and his parents, Jim Sommer and Madeline Sommer. He is survived by: his siblings-in-law, Annie and Bob Jorgensen of Santa Cruz, CA; his close friends, Rich, Jewel Knapp of Omaha, NE and Roger Martin of Atlanta, GA.; his son Christopher (Julie Billiet TIngley); his grandson Trent Solar; his daughter Katy Dejong (Salata); his son-in-law Scott of Oneonta, NY; his sister Diane Frisch; his brother-in-law Doug; and also Rick. He is also survived by cousins, nieces nephews.
A celebration of Ricks life will be hosted at the private residence of Katy and Scott in October of 2023 and his ashes will be buried along side Mary's mother and father Jim and Madeline Sommer in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Oneonta, NY, No Events & Services No Charities & Donations.
