He is survived by: his wife Sara; his sons, Steven Gaarde (Laurie) and David Gaarde (Lori); and his grandchildren, Sara Gaarde, Carly Hartmann, Lindsay Sarata (Scott), Rebecca Blackmer (Jacob), Myles Gaarde (Ashley) and Brian Gaarde (Alexandria). He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
His contributions to the field of education touched countless lives and left a legacy.
