He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Kienitz and Dorothy Kienitz (McNitt); his wife Rita; his sister Joan (Buxton); his son Karl; and his grandson Richard (Vanzile).

He is survived by: his children, Connie, Kenneth and John; and his grandchildren, Ryan, Kelly (Nestvold), Jessica, Katrina, Nikolas, Rebecca (Dye) and Zakary. He is also survived by his 5 great grandchildren.
