He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley; his children, Cheryl Evans, Bill Jr. and Mark Showalter; his parents, Eugene Showalter and Virgie Showalter; his siblings, Beverly Pool and Ben Showalter; and his sons-in-law, Jim and Raymond.

He is survived by: his children, Rick Showalter and Shelley Beeding; and his sisters, Betty Baughman and Barbara McDowell. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
