He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gruber and Marie Gruber; his wife Stella; his grandchildren, Tammy Fain and Santos Castro; his siblings, Bob Gruber and Gladys Gruber; his sons-in-law, Gary McChesney and Woody Farrar; and his stepdaughter Beverly Harris.
He is survived by: his former wife Kathryn "Kathy" Hitchcock; his children, Jeff Gruber (Diane) of Ashville, NY, Duane Gruber (Val) of Ashville, NY, Deb Farrar of Youngsville, PA, Donna Castro (Santos) of Arizona and Robin McChesney of Ashville; his siblings, Ray Gruber of Baldwinsville, NY, Jack Gruber of Mayville, NY and Betty Chase of Sugar Grove, PA.; and his stepchildren, Jeffrey Hitchcock (Cindy) of Ashville, Patricia Hitchcock of Jamestown and Brenda Nickerson (Bert) of Luray, VA. He is also survived by several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and one step great-great grandchild.
