He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parent Thomas Eugene; his wife Sherry Stroppel Kirkness; his sister Linda Diane Gunderman; his cousin Paul Herrod; and his sons, Christopher Herrod (Sara), Nathan Herrod and Richard Kirkness (Sabine). He was also cherished by 10 brothers and sister in laws, 6 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
