It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Vera Gilchrist of Wynne, Arkansas, born in Egypt, Arkansas, who passed away on September 8, 2020, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father Fredrick Merrell; her husband Jimmy Gilchrist; her mother Janie Merrell (Chadwick); and her siblings, Charles Merrell, J. D. Brown, Earl Brown, John "Buck" Merrell, Nova Headrick, Anna Merrell and Maxine Miles.
She is survived by: her daughters, Sherri Carroll (Gordon) of Jonesboro, Angie Reed (Terry) of Wynne and Laura Wright (Larry Burnett) of Wynne; her sister Pansy Smith of Oklahoma; and her grandchildren, Sarah Crowley, Richard Flahrity, Rachel Guerin, Rebecca Kent, Jonathan Reed, Leah Hayes and Andrew Barker. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren; many beloved nephews and nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Thompson-Wilson Funeral Homes abide by the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and mandates by Governor Asa Hutchinson, requiring the wearing of masks and the practice of social distancing.
