He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Lassiter and Irma Logan Lassiter; his wife Bertia Mae Lassiter; and his siblings, Cleveland, Howard, Melvin Lassiter, Eva Barnett and Gene Yelvington (Marcel Crest).

He is survived by: his son Donald Lee Lassiter (Alesia) of Warren; his brother Carl Lassiter of Warren; his grandchildren, Brannigan Dixon (Brian) of Warren and Marqus Lassiter of Warren; and his great grandchild Braydon Dixon.

“Our hearts are broken to hear the news of Joey's passing. Our deepest condolences. We got to know Joey through our relatives Rudy & Vaders Temple. Joey was a ray of sunshine. We have kept in contact with Joey for years via phone which we always enjoyed laughs and stories. To us he was known as the donut man as any time we visited Ruby, Joey would show up in the morning with donuts for our coffee. We were blessed to have known him and be a part of our lives.
