He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Irving and Margaret Estelle Phillips McGarity; his brother Walter E. McGarity; his son Bryan O. McGarity; his wife Maria C. Fowler McGarity; and his grandchildren, Mattie, Adrie and Rilee Sexton.
He is survived by: his children, Wenona Sexton (Billy) and Chad Hammond (Mechelle); his grandchildren, Taylor McGarity (Kenzie), Kyle McGarity (Bre), Lillian Sexton, Andraya Spadoni and Sara Hammond; his great grandchildren, Acelynn McGarity, Weston McGarity and Laykin Holmes; and his sisters, Margaret Hughes (Jack), Martha Rogers (Richard) and Joan Shirron (Eddie).
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to help with a headstone.
