He was predeceased by: his parents, C. L. "Dink" Birdsong and Gladys "Jose" Hardy Birdsong; and his son Phillip Charles Birdsong. He is survived by: his wife Leota "Lea" Mae Blanchard Birdsong; his sister Diann Joyce Herring of Mesa, Arizona; and his children, Danny Lewis Birdsong, Jr. (Jennifer) of Ft. Madison, Iowa, Tanya Lynn Dixon (Larry) of White Hall and Dana Lea Barker (Schance) of White Hall. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was also a Boy Scout troop Master for numerous years and enjoyed charity work helping those in need.
