He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur West Sr. and Ellen Elizabeth "Betty" Pearson West; and his nieces, Angela Taylor and Michelle Taylor. He is survived by: his daughter Laura Synco (Matthew); his grandchildren, Lacie Synco, Brooklynn Synco, Audrey Synco and Matthew Synco Jr.; his sisters, Judy Maxwell and Jeri White; his nephews, Mike Maxwell Jr., Greg Maxwell and Mark Taylor; and his niece Misty Mazingo.
