With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Willie Mitchell (West Helena, Arkansas), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 5, 2024 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Cleora Mitchell (Mable Lee Mitchell) and Fred Mitchell, Sr.; his siblings, Magnolia Kelly, Fred Mitchell, II, Jesse Wynne, Melvin Ross and Elijah Gilmore, Sr.; and his daughter Ida Jean Mitchell.

He is survived by: his wife Mable; his children, Willie Mitchell, Jr. of Utica, NY, Jerry Mitchell, Sr. of Kansas City, MO, Sharry Johnson (Larry) of Little Rock, AR, Donald Lee Mitchell, Sr. of Killeen, TX, David Mitchell of Katy, TX, Joyce Marie Mitchell of Marvell, AR, Phyllis Kay Williams (Larry) of Jacksonville, FL and Phillip Ray Mitchell, Sr. (Wendy) of Kansas City, MO; his siblings, Claudia Gilmore of Helena, Lucille Hughes (Joe) of Helena, James Gilmore of Helena and Sylvester Gilmore of Helena; his in-laws, Carrie Ross of Helena, Jerelene Gilmore of Helena, Rosie Hudson of Helena, Murline Danaby of Helena, Lewis Danaby of Helena and James Danaby (Mattie) of Nashville, TN; his cousins, Oscar Heard, Sr. (Billie Jean) and Pearlie Phillips; his nephew William Mitchell (Amelia); his niece Juanita Brown; and his grandson Eugene Crenshaw, Sr.. He is also survived by other grandchildren that he raised as his own, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
