He is survived by: his mother Essie Clayton, I; his sons, Joe Lewis Clayton, Jr., Joshie Clayton and Xavier Clayton; and his siblings, Jacob Clayton, Jr., John Clayton, Charles Clayton, Carl Clayton, Cora Clayton, Estelle Tate, Jacquelyn Morris, Lucille Clayton, Louise Tate, Essie Clayton and Lenora Goldsberry. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
