He was predeceased by: his parents, A. J. Ferguson and Fannie Ferguson; his grandparents, Cora Woods and Reverend Richard Deadmon; and his siblings, Herbert Bates, Raliegh Bates, Dorether Dennis, Ethel Bates, Manerva Banks, Minnie Bates, Sidney Ferguson and Andrew Ferguson.
He is survived by: his daughter Georganna Akinyemi (Oluwafemi) of Cleveland, Ohio; his grandchildren, Aari'on Witt, Nyla Grim, Giana Grim, Marvin Grim and Trenton Grim; and his sisters, Willie Mae Bailey of West Helena, Arkansas, Patricia Ivory (John) of West Helena, Arkansas and Cora Brown of Tyler, Texas. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
