He was predeceased by: his father Ray Lyons; his brother Todd Matzella; and his grandparents, Lawrence and Aileen Lyons. He is survived by: his mother Jeannette Griffith Matzella; his sons, AJ Lyons (Sarah) and Spencer Lyons; his granddaughter Brooklynn Lyons; his siblings, Gale Barker, Alesha Reed, Sammy Matzella, Audrey Lyons, Kimberly Blackmore, Laurie Wilson, Becky Walton, Stacie Crutchfield, Larry Matzella and Paul Matzella; and his loyal horse Peanut. He is also survived by several nieces & nephews.
