He was predeceased by: his father Melvin Hooks; and his siblings, Louis Hooks, Smead Hooks, Patsy Hooks Loomis, Dorris Hooks, Lois Hooks Green, Marilyn Hooks Pitts and Sherline Hooks.
He is survived by: his sons, Eddie Hooks of Des Arc and Keith Hooks of Rison; and his siblings, Joe Frank Hooks, Merl Dean Hooks, Cecil Hooks, Marion Hooks, Merline Knight and Peggy Morgan (Morris Jeffreys). He is also survived by eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren.
