He was predeceased by: his former wives, Lanerma Phillips Ellis (Deleta) and Lula Mae Ellis; and his sons, Preston Carl Ellis, Dale Ellis and Allan Ellis.
He is survived by: his wife Joann Ellis; his children, Paula Ellis Williams (David) and Wayne Ellis; his stepson Jerry Tullos; and his sister Joy Castine (Bud). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
