He was predeceased by: his father Bobby Howard; his wife Mary Dawson; and his sister Patricia Richmond. He is survived by: his son Bobby Dawson (Stephanie) of Viola, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Brooke Brazzell (Kasey) of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Bailey Jo Dawson of Lonoke, Harley Dawson of Viola, Sawyer Dale Dawson of Viola, Sonny Dawson of Viola and Blake Cartwright (Rachel) of Lonoke, Arkansas; his great grandchild Josiah Brazzell of Jacksonville, Arkansas; his mother Willie Mae Dawson-Wray (Laymon) of Viola, Arkansas; and his sister Diana Oberholtz (Jerry) of Grain Valley, Missouri. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Barker Funeral Home (857 Hwy 62 W, Salem, AR 72576). A funeral service was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 at the Viola Cemetery.
