She was predeceased by : her parents, Barney Earl Shipman and Dorothy Mae Shipman (Keller); her daughter Lavada Brown; and her brothers, Freddy Shipman and Roy Jackie Shipman.

She is survived by : her son Howard Lane Merrel of Tuckerman; her grandchildren, Nicole Scott (Stephen) of Brookland, Drew Brown of Los Angeles and Phoenix Merrell of Bradford; and her great grandchild Alexis Scott of Brookland.
