He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Ray and Lucille Gates (Stoner); and his siblings, Sam, Ronnie Gates, Kathryn Green and Louise Emery.
He is survived by: his wife Glenda Summers Gates; his children, Anthony Gates (Sharon) of Tuckerman and Melanie Gates Hutchison (Ron) of Tuckerman; his brother Jerry Gates (Velda) of Newport; his brothers-in-law, Mark Summers (Karen) and Sam Summers (Gwen); his sisters, Carolyn Bailey and Sue Huskey (Carroll); his grandson Brad Hutchison (Laura); his great grandchild McKinzy Hutchison; and his pet Grizzley. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 3rd 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel (2001 AR-367, Newport, AR 72112). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 4th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, September 4th 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Gracelawn Cemetery (110 Gracelawn Dr, Tuckerman, AR 72473).
