She was predeceased by: her parents, Emmett Lee and Lady Carrie Wood Phillips; her spouse Edward Earl Mitchell; and her siblings, Ronald, Billy, Milton Phillips, Marcella Vernette Carter and Clara Lavon Burney.

She is survived by: her sons, Kevin Mitchell (Kim) of Cabot, AR and Steven Mitchell (Mary) of Jefferson City, MO; her sisters, Clista Faye Scott of Waterloo, AL and Mabel Rita Johnson; and her grandsons, Christopher Chase and Benton Thomas Mitchell.
