He was predeceased by: his parents, Dildy Porterfield and Ethel Dunavant Porterfield; his great grandchild Jaxon; and his sister Lavern Hughs. He is survived by: his wife Kathryn Porterfield of Traskwood; his children, Todd Porterfield and Kameka; and his grandchildren, Billy, Micah and Elizabeth. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
