He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Allen Sims, Sr. and Molly Lagrone (Brown); his wife Patrice L. Sims (Smith) of Texarkana, AR; his children, Christopher Sims of Indianapolis, Indiana, Ashia Sims of California and Vanessa Sims of Little Rock, AR; and his siblings, Donald Ray Sims of Pine Bluff, AR, Walter James Sims of Texarkana, AR, Phillip Carl Sims of Marietta, Georgia, Andre Sims of Marietta, Georgia, Dianne Johnson of White Hall, AR, Juanita Sims of Houston, Texas and Karin Sims of Houston, Texas. He was also cherished by six grandchildren.
